Midwife as first point of contact....why ?

When you first find out that you're pregnant, then your midwife, as your lead professional or primary care giver, should be your first point of contact. That means that the days of going to tell your GP that you're pregnant first are gone. At 'One to One', we believe that women benefit from the support and advocacy of a known midwife throughout their pregnancy, so the earlier we get to say "hello", the happier we are. As soon as you have referred yourself to us, we guarantee that your own 'One to One' midwife will have contacted you directly within 48hrs at the latest. Your own midwife will then arrange your first face to face visit at your convenience, taking into account the demands of your family and or working life. At that first visit, your midwife will discuss with you any particular needs or concerns that you may have, including personal, religious or cultural needs, and will spend time talking to you about what our ethos of care is. Our aim is to minimise anxiety and focus on you and your pregnancy and your individual choices having had the opportunity to discuss them at length first.
